  • Red River starred John Wayne and Montgomery Clift and was a fictional account of the first cattle drive from Texas to Kansas on the Chisholm Trail.
  • Other John Wayne westerns scored by Tiomkin include Rio Bravo, The Alamo and The War Wagon.
  • The soundtrack to Red River was not actually released until 2005, some 57 years after the film was made.
