Added by Reds5fanThe Best of the 80s: Miami Vice was a DVD released by Universal Home Video in 2011 as part of a series on classic 1980s TV shows.
Background
Edit
Universal Home Video released several DVDs in the "Best of the 80s" series to allow consumers to purchase a small sample of some of the classic TV shows of the 1980s for a reduced price vs. having to pay a larger amount for entire seasons. Other shows besides Vice included in this series were Magnum P.I., The A-Team, and Knight Rider.
This DVD can usually be found in stores and on online retail sites such as Amazon or eBay, usually in the $6-$15 range.
Episodes
Edit
Four episodes are from Season 1, with one each from the remaining four seasons.
The episodes on this release included:
- "Brother's Keeper"
- "Calderone's Return (Part I)"
- "Calderone's Return (Part II)"
- "Smuggler's Blues"
- "Out Where the Buses Don't Run"
- "Forgive Us Our Debts"
- "Mirror Image"†
- "Freefall"
†The release of "Mirror Image" but not any of the other episodes of the Sony Burnett story arc is strange, as "Mirror Image" only portrays Crockett's initial transformation into his alter-ego Burnett and ends in a cliffhanger. The omission of the other episodes of the arc would leave the casual viewer "hanging" as to what happened next, especially as Crockett has returned to normal in "Freefall". Similarly, "Mirror Image" directly references Caitlin Davies, whose marriage to Crockett and subsequent murder are not included in any of the released DVDs; in fact, her character doesn't appear at all in any of the other episodes.
Music
Edit
The original music is intact in this release, just like on the Vice DVD Releases.
