"That Smell" is a song by Lynyrd Skynyrd, featured on the album Street Survivors in 1977. It appeared in the Miami Vice episode "Trust Fund Pirates".
Notes[]
- According to Ronnie Van Zant, "That Smell" was written after the band began to do multiple drugs and alcohol, and when Gary Rossington and Allen Collins had car accidents; he wrote the song as a warning about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
- Among the drugs mentioned in the song are quaaludes, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, and alcohol.
- Street Survivors was the final album recorded by the original Lynyrd Skynyrd members. Three days after the album's release, the plane crash that took the life of Van Zant, guitarist/vocalist Steve Gaines, and Gaines' sister Cassie (that sang backup vocals on the song) occurred.
