Richard Edson (born January 1, 1954) is an American actor and musician. He made his TV debut in the show Miami Vice as Wavey Davey, mechanic for the pilot Jimmy (played by Glenn Frey) and part of the conspiracy to blackmail smugglers in the episode "Smuggler's Blues".

Early Life/Career[]

Edson was born in New Rochelle, New York. He started his career as the original drummer in the band Sonic Youth, as well as playing drums for the band Konk. He left Sonic Youth to join Konk full-time in 1982. In 1984, he began an acting career with an appearance in the movie Stranger Than Paradise (with Eszter Balint), followed by appearances in Desperately Seeking Susan (with Madonna, Mark Blum, John Turturro, and Giancarlo Esposito), Howard the Duck (with Paul Guilfoyle), Platoon, Good Morning, Vietnam, Eight Men Out (with Perry Lang and David Strathairn), Super Mario Bros. (with John Leguizamo), and many others. In television, Edson appeared in Crime Story (with Dennis Farina), Nash Bridges (with Don Johnson), in the short-run series Shannon's Deal (with Martin Ferrero & Miguel Ferrer), Homicide: Life on the Street (with Richard Belzer & Melissa Leo), CSI: Miami, Vegas (with Michael Chiklis), Franklin & Bash (with Garcelle Beauvais), and his most recent film appearance, 2018's Burning Shadow.
