Reinaldo Povod (1960-1994) co-wrote (with Dennis Cooper) the episode "Everybody's in Showbiz" of the series Miami Vice.

Povod was a playwright, his credits include Cries and Shouts and Cuba and his Teddy Bear (performed in 1987 on Broadway with Robert De Niro as the lead). He also won the 1987 Whiting Writers Award for his plays, and was a protege of Miguel Piñero.


Povod contracted HIV, and died of tuberculosis (complication of AIDS) on July 28, 1994 in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 34.
