Randall "Tex" Cobb (born May 7, 1950, Abilene, Texas) is a retired American boxer and actor, who appeared as Moon, trainer and mentor to fighter Bobby Sykes in the episode "Down For The Count (Part I)" of the show Miami Vice.

Boxing CareerEdit

Cobb began his career in 1977, defeating Pedro Vega by TKO in his debut. Over his 16 year career he fought 51 times, winning 43 (36 by KO), losing 7, and drawing once. His most infamous fight was in 1982, when he fought then-WBC Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes to a 15 round losing decision, with the bout being so bloody that Howard Cosell swore he would never cover another heavyweight fight in his career, which Cobb jokingly called his "gift to boxing". He also lost a 1984 bout to a young James "Buster" Douglas, seven years before he pulled off a major upset by beating then-champion Mike Tyson. Cobb also defeated former champion Leon Spinks in 1988 and Earnie Shavers in 1980, and lost to another former champion, Ken Norton, in 1981. His final bout was in 1993, a TKO over Andre Smiley.

Acting CareerEdit

Cobb delved into acting during his boxing career, beginning in 1979 in the movie The Champ, followed by roles in Uncommon Valor (with Reb Brown), The Golden Child (with Peter Kwong), Raising Arizona (with Sam McMurray), Fletch Lives (with Richard Belzer and R. Lee Ermey), Blind Fury (with Terry O'Quinn), Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (with Ellen Greene), Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (with Carlos Mena), and his most recent film, 2000's Vice.

His TV debut came in the 1985 TV movie Braker (with Ed O'Neill), Ian McShane, and Robert Pastorelli), followed by roles in MacGvyer, Married: With Children (with O'Neill), Highlander, and his most recent role in the 2001 series finale of Walker Texas Ranger.
