Richard Melville Hall, better known by his stage name of Moby (born September 11, 1965 in Harlem, New York), is an American musician, DJ and photographer whose songs "One of These Mornings" (with Patti LaBelle) and "Anthem" were featured in the Miami Vice film.

Career[]

Moby's 1991 stand-alone single "Go" that first brought him to the attention of the public, reaching the UK Top Ten. His first album, Everything Is Wrong (featuring "Anthem"), continued this success, leading to the release of a remixed version titled Everything Is Wrong: Mixed And Remixed (featuring the "Cinematic Version" of "Anthem" that actually appeared in the film) later the same year. After this, Moby released the disastrous Animal Rights in 1996, an album cited as almost destroying his career owing to its poor reception and alienation of his fans. His 1997 album I Like To Score, a compilation of various tracks that had featured in films (including his cover of "New Dawn Fades", which had been used in Michael Mann's Heat), helped to restore some of his credibility, paving the way for his breakthrough album Play two years later. His next album 18 (featuring "One of These Mornings") was even more successful, earning gold and platinum awards in over 30 countries around the world. He has released four albums since, but none have reached the level of success he enjoyed at the start of the millennium.
