Margaret Whitton (November 30, 1950 - December 4, 2016) was an American actress. She appeared in the show Miami Vice as Cassie Bramlette, wife of Joey Bramlette and mother of Tammy Bramlette in the episode "Glades".

Early Life/CareerEdit

Whitton was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began her acting career on the off-Broadway stage, with her first role in 1972's Baba Goya and Nourish the Beast. She made her film debut in Parades (with Russell Horton and Brad Sullivan), and her TV debut in the soap opera The Doctors before returning to the stage, making her Broadway debut in 1982's Steaming. Whitton then returned to the big screen in the movies Love Child, The Best of Times (with Tony Plana), 9 1/2 Weeks, The Secret of My Success, and Ironweed (with Nathan Lane) before achieving her most known role as Rachel Phelps, owner of the lowly Cleveland Indians baseball team in Major League (with Wesley Snipes) and in the sequel Major League II. Her last credited film acting role was in the movie Trial By Jury (with Ed Lauter and Joe Santos) in 1994.

On television, Whitton appeared in the short-lived series' Hometown and A Fine Romance, guested in Spenser: For Hire, and Tales From The Darkside. Whitton then stepped back onto the Broadway stage and appeared in ...and the Apple Doesn't Fall, and Marlene. She produced and directed the movie The Loop in 2010.

Personal Life/DeathEdit

Whitton was married to former Bear Stearns executive Warren Spector from 1993 until her death from cancer in Palm Beach, Florida on December 4, 2016.
