Lyle Lovett and His Large Band were an American band founded by Lyle Lovett whose song "Cryin' Shame" appeared in the episode "Freefall" of the series Miami Vice.
Career[]
Lovett began his career as a songwriter, but turned to singing with the release of his 1986 self-titled debut album, from which his only Billboard Top 10 country single, "Cowboy Man", was released. Lovett's career has included ten studio albums. In 1989, he founded the group Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, recording the album Lyle Lovett and his Large Band (featuring "Cryin' Shame"), which won the first of Lovett's four Grammy Awards for Best Country Male Vocal. The only other album released by the band was 2007's It's Not Big It's Large.
However, Lovett has continued to release solo albums, including 1996's The Road to Ensenada (Grammy winner for Best Country Album), 1998's Step Inside This House, 2003's My Baby Don't Tolerate, and 2009's Natural Forces. All of these reached the Top 10 on the Country Album chart. His other two Grammys were collaborations with country group Asleep At The Wheel and soul legend Al Green. Lovett has also acted in the movies The Player, Short Cuts, and The New Guy and the TV shows Dharma and Greg, Mad About You, and Brothers and Sisters.
Personal Life[]
Lovett met actress Julia Roberts on the set of The Player, they suddenly married after a three-week romance in 1993, which lasted until 1995 when they divorced, but still remain friends. Lovett began a relationship with April Kimble in 1999, in 2017 they were married.
