Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American actress & producer, who appeared in the show Miami Vice as Sarah MacPhail, girlfriend to Tony Rivers (played by Michael Margotta, who, after a fling with and a bad drug deal with Phil Mayhew (played by Phil Collins), ran off with Phil and appeared in his "scams" in the episode "Phil the Shill".

Sedgwick was born in New York City, New York. She began acting in the soap opera Another World, then made her movie debut in 1985's War and Love, followed by movie appearances in Tai-Pan (with Joan Chen), Kansas (with Brent Jennings), Something to Talk About (with Julia Roberts), Phenomenon (with Vyto Ruginis), Loverboy (with Oliver Platt), and her most recent film, Man on a Ledge.

In television, Sedgwick appeared in the TV movies Women & Men: Stories of Seduction (with Melanie Griffith), and its' sequel, Women & Men II: In Love There Are No Rules (with Ron Vawter), and Twelfth Night, What You Will (with David Patrick Kelly), the series Ally McBeal (episode with Albert Hall), and a recurring role in the series Queens Supreme (with Oliver Platt) before her most recent and notable TV role as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson in the police series The Closer (2005-2012), for which she has won a Best Actress Golden Globe and been nominated for Emmy Awards five times (winning in 2010).

Personal LifeEdit

Sedgwick married actor Kevin Bacon in 1988, they have two children, Travis Sedgwick Bacon (born 1989) and Sosie Ruth Bacon (born 1992, who has appeared with her mother in The Closer). Sedgwick is the 4x great-granddaughter of Theodore Sedgwick who served as the fifth Speaker of the House of Representatives serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
