Frankie Goes to Hollywood (FGTH) was an English dance band whose song "Relax" appeared in the episode "Little Prince" of the show Miami Vice.
Career[]
FGTH was formed in Liverpool, England in the late 1970s with members Holly Johnson (born 1960, vocals), Paul Rutherford (born 1959, vocals/keyboards), Peter Gill (born 1964, drums), Mark O'Toole (born 1964, bass) and Brian Nash (born 1963, guitar). Their first single, "Relax" was released in 1983 and was banned in their native England due to its' overtly sexual content, but was the biggest selling single in the UK. The song was not released in the United States until 1984, and it met similar resistance among DJs, but its' record sales made it a Top 10 single. Their followup, "Two Tribes" did well in both locations, and their album, Welcome To The Pleasuredome reached the Top 40. But their other single, "The Power of Love" did not do well in the US, and FGTH was considered a "one-hit wonder" in America, despite their UK success. In 1987 the band broke up in the midst of strife within the group. The group briefly reunited in 2003 and toured Europe but disbanded again by 2007.
