Evan Handler (born January 10, 1961) is an American actor and author. He made his television debut in the show Miami Vice as Louis Martinez, friend and business partner of Eddie Rivers (played by Al Shannon) in the episode "Milk Run".

Early Life/CareerEdit

Handler was born in Queens, New York, when he was 17 he attended Juilliard School in New York City, but left in 1980 to make his film debut in The Chosen, followed by Taps (with Giancarlo Esposito), Dear Mr. Wonderful, and War and Love (with Kyra Sedgwick and Cheryl Giannini). After making his TV debut in Vice, he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a rare form of the disease that Handler recovered from after extensive treatments. He returned to TV in a CBS Afterschool Special What If I'm Gay (with Richard Joseph Paul, making his acting debut), then to the movies in Natural Born Killers (with Everett Quinton), and The Three Stooges (with Michael Chiklis) before returning to TV with roles in the series' It's Like, You Know, The West Wing, The Guardian, and Sex In The City, reprising his role as Harry Goldenblatt in both City movies. His most recent roles were in the TV series Californication, Necessary Roughness, The Astronaut Wives Club, and 2016's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (with Nathan Lane). Handler has also written two books, Time on Fire: My Comedy of Terrors about his recovery from AML, and It's Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive.

Personal LifeEdit

Handler married Elisa Atti, an Italian-born chemist, in 2003, and they have a daughter, Sofia (born 2007).
