William Archibald Paxton (May 17, 1955 - February 26, 2017) was an American actor who appeared as Metro-Dade Detective Vic Romano in the episode "Streetwise" of the series Miami Vice.

CareerEdit

Paxton was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and he began his career working with director Roger Corman and his New World Pictures company, doing behind-the-camera work on his film Big Bad Mama before turning to acting, beginning with the 1975 film Crazy Mama, then appearing in Fish Heads (which he also directed), Stripes (with John Diehl and Antone Pagan), The Lords of Discipline (with Mark Breland and Mitchell Lichtenstein), Streets of Fire (with Mykelti Williamson), The Terminator, Weird Science, Commando (with Dan Hedaya and David Patrick Kelly), Aliens, Predator 2 (with Elpidia Carrillo and Ruben Blades), Tombstone, Apollo 13 (with David Andrews), Twister (with Zach Grenier), Titanic (with Suzy Amis), Spy Kids 2 (with Steve Buscemi) and Spy Kids 3-D, The Good Life (with Bruce McGill), Haywire, 2 Guns (with Edward James Olmos), Edge of Tomorrow, and his final movie appearance, 2017's The Circle.

His TV credits include the miniseries The Atlanta Child Murders (with Guy Boyd), The Hitchhiker, and Frasier before his role as Bill Henrickson in the cable series Big Love. Paxton received an Emmy nomination for his role in the 2012 miniseries The Hatfields and The McCoys, then appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the 2015 mini-series Texas Rising (with Jeff Fahey), and his final TV appearance, in 2017's Training Day. Paxton also appeared as the radio operator in the video to Pat Benatar's hit single Shadows of the Night.

Personal LifeEdit

Paxton married Kelly Rowan in 1979 until their 1980 divorce, later marrying Louise Newberry in 1987 until his death from a stroke due to complications from heart surgery on February 26, 2017, at the age of 61. Paxton is survived by his widow and their two children, James (born 1994, appearing with his father in the two Spy Kids movies, and in his last series Training Day), and daughter Lydia (born 1997).
