  • The song references a young boy who planned to play "big league" hockey, but tragically dying before attending college on a hockey scholarship. The song has been featured on Canada's long-running hockey show Hockey Night in Canada.
  • Cochrane and Red Rider performed the song at the 2008-09 Vancouver Canucks NHL season opener paying tribute to Luc Bourdon, who tragically died in a motorcycle crash in May 2008.
  • "Big League" reached #9 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, but not the Hot 100.
