Belinda J. Montgomery (born July 23, 1950) is a Canadian actress. She appeared in the show Miami Vice as Caroline Crockett-Ballard, James "Sonny" Crockett's ex-wife and mother to his son Billy Crockett, in the episodes "Brother's Keeper", "Cool Runnin'", "Calderone's Return (Part I)", "Child's Play", and "To Have And To Hold".

Early Life/CareerEdit

Montgomery began her acting career at 17, appearing in Barney Boomer. She would go on to guest star in a number of 1970's TV classic westerns such as The Virginian and Alias Smith & Jones, then into police dramas such as Ironside, The FBI, Cannon, Mannix, The Rookies (with Georg Stanford Brown), Barnaby Jones, Petrocelli, Quincy, M.E. (with Val Bisoglio), and a co-starring role on the sci-fi The Man from Atlantis. She also appeared in the movie The Other Side Of The Mountain and its sequel, Part 2.

Miami ViceEdit

In 1984, Montgomery was cast as Caroline Crockett, soon-to-be ex-wife of Sonny Crockett and mother of son Billy in Miami Vice's pilot episode "Brother's Keeper". She would go on to reprise the role in "Cool Runnin'" when the Crocketts work out divorce proceedings, then in "The Hit List" when they tried to have the hearing but decided to work things out, but after a hit man was waiting in their house and nearly killed the entire family, Caroline decided to go through with the divorce, her and Billy left the state. Montgomery would not return until the fourth season episode "Child's Play", when Crockett sought Billy out after he shot a child, and Caroline was engaged to Bob Ballard, a local businessman. Montgomery's final appearance as Caroline would be in "To Have And To Hold", when she was pregnant with a son by Bob, and Billy was having difficulty dealing with the impending new arrival.

After ViceEdit

During Vice's run, Montgomery appeared in the short-lived family drama Aaron's Way, and several police/PI dramas, including Magnum P.I., Riptide, T.J. Hooker, Murder, She Wrote,and Simon & Simon. After Vice ended, she accepted the role of Katherine Howser (mother of the title character) in the series Doogie Howser, M.D. After Howser's run ended, Montgomery returned to the crime drama genre on television on Burke's Law, L.A. Law, and JAG, then on the family drama Promised Land. Her most recent TV appearance was in Ghost Whisperer in 2005 and in movies in the 2010 film Tron: Legacy.

Personal LifeEdit

Montgomery has a brother, Lee Montgomery (b. 1961), who was a child actor in the 1970s. His first role was as Jimmy Dooley in the Disney classic Million Dollar Duck, and then appeared on such shows as The Mod Squad, Adam-12, Medical Center, and others. Belinda Montgomery now spends most of her time in her artwork profession.
