Phillip Anthony Mair Heald (born August 25, 1944) is an American actor, known by his professional name Anthony Heald, who appeared in the show Miami Vice as DEA New York Commander Rene, who, along with NYPD Lieutenant Pearson (played by Charles S. Dutton), refuses to help Crockett and Tubbs bring down the Revillas' cartel in the episode "The Prodigal Son".

CareerEdit

Heald was born in New Rochelle, New York. He appeared extensively in the theater and on Broadway, receiving two Tony nominations. He made his film debut in 1983's Silkwood (with Bruce McGill & J.C. Quinn), followed by roles in Teachers, Happy New Year (with Daniel Gerroll & Peter Sellars), Orphans (with Kevin Anderson), Postcards from the Edge (with Annette Bening), The Silence of the Lambs, The Pelican Brief (with Julia Roberts, Stanley Tucci, & Nicholas Woodeson), Searching for Bobby Fischer (with Laurence Fishburne & Dan Hedaya), A Time To Kill (with Charles S. Dutton & Oliver Platt), and his most recent film role, in Accepted.

On television, Heald made his debut on the show Spenser: For Hire, then appeared in Crime Story (with Dennis Farina), the soap One Live To Live, the Cheers series finale (episode with Mitchell Lichtenstein), Law & Order, and The X-Files before getting a semi-regular role on The Practice, followed by the same role in Boston Legal and a regular role in the series Boston Public that lasted four seasons, and his most recent TV appearances, in the 2013-14 series Monday Mornings (with Ving Rhames and Alfred Molina). Heald has also recorded over 60 audiobooks, including The Pelican Brief, Midnight In The Garden Of Good & Evil, Jurassic Park, and several of the Star Wars collection.
