"(Bang A Gong) Get It On" is a song performed by The Power Station, recorded on the album The Power Station in 1985. The song appeared in the Miami Vice episode "Whatever Works".
Notes
Edit
- The song is a remake of a track performed by the British band T-Rex in 1971 from their album Electric Warrior, which hit #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is a staple on Classic Rock stations today. The song's writer, Marc Bolan, was killed in a car accident in 1977. The song includes the (Bang A Gong) to differentiate it from another song called "Get It On", performed by the jazz-rock fusion group Chase at the same time as the T-Rex version.
- The single and album versions were performed with Robert Palmer as lead singer. After Palmer left the group to resume his solo career, Michael Des Barres joined the band as lead singer, and the new lineup performed the song at Live Aid and in this episode.
